To my surprise, at 24 weeks old (or 14 weeks adjusted) Riley has already started teething and believe me when i say that there seems to be no limit to the amount of dribble that little man can produce. So, in an attempt to give my washing machine a break and put an end to the countless soaked bibs, cloth changes and wet neck creases, i put out a request to some of my twitter followers and lovely blogging buddies for possible solutions.
One name that repeatedly cropped up was Funky Giraffe Bibs, a company established in 2009 by a fashionable first time mummy who wanted to create her own brand of bibs that were not only modern and stylish but practical, inexpensive and comfortable too. I decided to browse the site and was delighted with the variety of products available so soon found myself placing an order for 5 dribble bibs. To my amazement i received a confirmation of despatch email within an hour of placing the order and the bibs arrived early the next day, beautifully packaged i might add, that’s excellent turn-around and quality of service if ever i saw it!
At first glances i wondered how they could possibly be more durable and absorbent than standard bibs as they’re made from a soft cotton material, but after closer inspection it became apparent that they have a secret weapon – a fleece lining on the back! Now i know what you’re all thinking, there’s no way a cotton bib can compete with the stresses of teething and weaning……well you’d be wrong! I left one on Riley for the majority of the day and although the front was saturated in baby dribble (lovely!), the fleece lining on the rear of the bib had prevented any dribble or liquid from seeping through so Riley and his clothes were super dry.
I was really pleased to find that the bibs were also equipped with two sets poppers, so not only do they fit securely and snuggly around baby’s neck but they also adapt in size as your baby grows and develops, giving them a longer life. The bibs are finished to a very high standard and despite me putting all of Riley’s through the washing machine numerous times they still look as good as new and haven’t faltered in any way. The concept behind these funky bibs really is brilliant and not only are they practical but they’re stylish enough to be worn all day. With so many styles and colours to choose from, they’re the perfect accessory to compliment any outfit.
The bibs retail for £4.00 each but at Funky Giraffe Bibs, the more you purchase, the more money you save.
