For the past couple of weeks, Harry and i have been testing out some beautiful pieces from the Lollipop Lane range. I am sure that most people who have shopped for newborn items will have come across Lollipop Lane, but for those unfamiliar with them, they are a family run company based in Manchester and are one of the UK’s leading independent nursery brands. From mobiles, play mats and bedding bundles to nursery furniture, bath sets, changing mats and strollers – Lollipop Lane have got it covered.
I have been a fan of Lollipop Lane for many years now so when they got in contact and asked if i would like to review some items from the range, i didn’t hesitate in saying yes. They very kindly sent me a Blue Whale Little Tots Towel, Blue Whale Burp Cloths and Blue Whale Muslin Squares.
Now i have not 1, but 2 water babies and bathtime in our house is a lot of fun. They love nothing more than to splash around in the water, play with their rubber duckies and be lathered with soapy bubbles, but they find snuggling up afterwards just as enjoyable so i couldn’t wait to try out the Blue Whale Little Tots Towel. Compared to similar products on the market, this towel is by far the best i have come across and it makes a great alternative to the traditional cuddle robe. Super fluffy and extra large in size, to me, it is absolutely perfect as it’s kind to their sensitive skin and both boys (Riley 23 months and Harry 4 months) are able to fit in it nicely with plenty of room to completely wrap them up. It features a hood with the Blue Whale motif and integral ‘mitt’s for little hands, meaning the boys can be swaddled after bathtime and kept cosy and warm. Plus, there’s something about newborns wrapped up in a towel that makes them look utterly cute and adorable – my heart gushes.
Next we tried the Blue Whale Burp Cloths which included 1 x white burp cloth with blue trim & beautiful Blue Whale motif and 2 x plain blue burp clothes with blue trim. Admittedly i’ve never used burp cloths before, having always made do with muslin blankets or the first clean thing i could grab hold of so i was curious to try these out. Without a shadow of a doubt, they are the ideal thing to have close to hand whilst feeding as Harry dribbles, ALOT, especially as he’s now teething. Feeding time can get very messy and these burp cloths are made from an absorbent material so are great to help mop up little dribbles of milk and protect my clothes during winding. *NOTE TO SELF – Clothes covered in milk and/or baby sick are so NOT a good look!* The burp cloths are super soft so don’t irritate Harry’s sensitive skin and are the perfect shape and size to drape comfortably over my shoulder, thus providing good coverage of the back area. They should definitely be considered as an essential item for new parents and i will be continuing to use them from now on.
Finally we received some muslin blankets, 6 to be precise – 2 x plain white muslins with a Blue Whale Motif, 2 a Plain Blue muslins and 2 x polka dot muslins. As i’m sure all parents know, muslin blankets are extremely versatile and can be used for just about everything in the first few years.
Like i mentioned above i’ve always used mine during feeding to mop up any dribble and spills but they also come in handy when out and about for wiping dirty faces and both the boys use them as a comforter. Riley’s is commonly referred to as ‘blankie’ and he can’t go to sleep without it. He has a cute way of pulling it over his face when he’s sleepy or when he’s drinking he often brings it up over the beaker and holds it under his nose, i’m not sure if it’s the smell or feel that he’s comforted by but he won’t be without it. Harry too is becoming accustomed to having a ‘blankie’ as i often catch him holding on to one tightly when he’s sleeping.
What i love in particular about this set is that the muslin squares are snuggly soft and easy to wash and dry for daily use. The designs are fresh and clean and the blue used is a beautiful aqua/turquoise colour as opposed to the typical ‘baby blue’ colour you so often find with newborn items, plus there are two of each design so the boys get one of each.
I honestly can’t fault any of the items we received and have already been recommending them to family and friends. Lollipop Lane are a wonderful brand and obviously put a lot of time and effort into their products which is reflected hugely in the design, quality and finish of each one. 5 stars all round from us!
