The Siblings Project // April 2016

It’s the fifteenth of the month again and that means it’s time for our monthly Siblings Project update. This is one of my favourite monthly commitments (despite the fact i’m almost always late in posting) as it serves as a reminder to myself to catch a few portraits of the boys together and to document how much their relationship is growing and changing.

These shots were taken during a fun, if a little cold and damp, afternoon in the garden. They’re definitely not the best photos i’ve ever taken of the boys but it’s becoming quite a task to capture these two together and both looking at the same time.

Harry has really grown up over the last month and because of this, the pair seem to have a real respect for each other these days. Thankfully this means we’re having less arguments or tantrums and if there is any fall out, it’s usually because one doesn’t want to play the same game as the other (although they do still want to play together). They have a bit of an issue still when it comes to sharing although generally they tend to reach some sort of compromise and are never intentionally mean to each other. Yes, Harry has a more demanding and stubborn streak, but he loves his big brother and really looks up to him.

I’ve also recently noticed that their sense of humour is becoming very similar. They find the same things funny and are laughing so much more together. If one is laughing at something, the other isn’t usually too far behind. Granted it’s always very childish toilet humour but I still love listening and watching them having so much fun together.

There was a reason i knew i always wanted two children close in age.

They forever have a friend in one another.

Oh my goodness they are almost the same height! And they look so much alike, you would know straight off that they’re brothers. Lovely update x

Do you think? Everyone says that they look alike but i just don’t see it myself. There’s 20 months between them but you really wouldn’t think it given that they’re practically the same height and wear the same size clothes! xxx

Less arguments and tantrums is always good. Were at the arguments and tantrum stage and its a flipping night are. I love the first picture they are so cute.

Can’t believe how much they look like you, and how much they’ve both grown recently! Harry is catching up with Riley. Lovely photos xx

Aw, I love that special friend between siblings. I have three, born in just over four years, and although there are days when they fight and argue, I love that they are little best friends, like you say. I know what you mean about the difficulties of trying to take photos of them all looking at the camera though. Takes me ages to get a decent photo – although when I look back, the out-takes are the ones that make me smile the most because you can see so much of their personalities in them. x
