If you are a fan of The Beatles, then you are going to absolutely love “Beat Bugs”, the latest kids show to arrive on Netflix. Season 1 hit our screens on Wednesday (3rd August) and it is quite simply brilliant!
Inspired by the songs of The Beatles, Beat Bugs tells uplifting and life-affirming stories filled with hope and melody. The animated show follows five best friends – Crick, Jay, Buzz, Kumi and Walter – who together discover life’s most important lessons in an overgrown suburban backyard. The Beat Bugs live out these childhood adventures to the words and music of The Beatles.
Created by Josh Wakely, Beat Bugs incorporates more than 50 songs from the Lennon/McCartney ‘Northern Songs’ catalogue and features covers by world-leading music artists.
The following artists feature in Season 1:
P!nk – Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds – Ep1
James Corden – I’m A Loser – Ep2
Aloe Blacc – Rain – Ep3
Robbie Williams – Good Day Sunshine – Ep4
Eddie Veder – Magical Mystery Tour – Ep6
Frances – In My Life – Ep10
The Shins – The Word – Ep11
The Lumineers – Honey Pie – Ep12

Season 2 will premiere on 18th November 2016 with artists such as Rod Stewart (Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band), Jennifer Hudson (I’ll Follow The Sun), James Bay (Hey Bulldog) and Of Monsters And Men (Eleanor Rigby).
I think Beat Bugs is going to be a huge hit for Netflix and the number one choice for “family” viewing over the Summer holidays. It is a perfect marriage between great animation and classic Beatles songs that us parents have loved over the years and been dying to teach our kids about.
With five cute little bug friends: Crick, Jay, Buzz, Kumi and Walter you know your little ones are going to have a buzzing good time while listening to some amazingly timeless music.
