Introducing The New Furby Connect

When the original Furby launched in 1998, it was an instant hit, selling more than a million units during its holiday launch and going on to sell tens of millions more. It was the first toy of its kind, offering children a completely new way to play and interact with their toys.

As technology has evolved, so has Furby and in the years since its original release, Furby has undergone quite the transformation. There have also been additions to the family with Furby Babies, Furby Friends, Furby Party Rockers and Furby Boom, all of which have proved to be as popular with children as the original bundle of fur.

Furby Connect is the latest version of Furby – an interactive companion full of personality – and as the name suggests, it now connects and interacts with other technology.

As members of the Hasbro Toy Tribe, the boys and I were very kindly sent a Furby Connect which we will be reviewing in full on the blog soon, but for now I just wanted to give you a quick run-down of some of the new features:

  • Furby Connect is Bluetooth enabled, allowing it to connect with smartphones and tablets. It also provides your Furby with an internal year-round clock so Furby now knows if it’s Christmas Day, Easter of Valentine’s Day.
  • Furby’s mood changes, from happy to sad, to scared, to excited. Each Furby is unique.
  • Furby has multiple sensors that react to sound and touch, such as the eyes, ears and light-up antenna.
  • Furby can speak more than 1,000 phrases
  • Furby’s eyes are full-colour LCD screens, capable of even greater expressions and allowing it to express its mood through different colours and animations.
  • You can interact with Furby by petting, tickling or shaking him.
  • Connect Furby with the Furby Connect World App to feed him, play games of take him to the toilet.
  • The Furby Connect World App keeps Furby updated and brings in new entertainment from across the internet every week that Furby learns to interact with. (All child-friendly thanks to Hasbro’s safeguarding tech)
  • You can hatch, raise and level up Furblings from within the app.
  • Furby now comes with a sleep mask, meaning he now sleeps throughout the night.

We can’t wait to start playing with our Furby Connect and will be sharing a full review on the blog very soon so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, you can read other reviews and follow along with the conversation on Twitter via the hashtag #FurbyConnect.

That looks class. I wish I could be part of it. I must show Matthew and see if he likes it. Might be a possible Xmas present.
