The Little Live Pets Snuggles My Dream Puppy is sure to be on the present wishlist of children everywhere this Christmas. With his fluffy fur, big limpid blue eyes, chubby cheeks and adorable expressions, you can’t help but instantly fall in love with this little guy.
As soon as Snuggles arrived, the boys were besotted and the excitement levels were through the roof before I’d even taken this puppy out of the packaging. And can I just say, this is not your typical packaging. True to the Little Live Pets range, Snuggles is boxed in what looks like a real pet carrier, complete with air holes, a carry handle, and a pretend blanket. I love that they did this because it really reinforced the idea to the boys that they were about to get their very own puppy to look after and made it seem more realistic.
The second I took Snuggles out of the packaging the boys were over him like a rash, cooing, squeezing him, hugging him, petting him and cuddling him. He is just the right size and weight for small hands to pet and cradle and is covered in the softest and fluffiest golden brown fur, with big blue eyes, floppy ears, and a little button nose. He also wears a pale blue collar with a star-shaped dog tag that the boys were able to write his name on. I say boys, it was actually me that did the writing part.
Literally, everything about Snuggles is too adorable to handle – he just radiates charm and cuteness and makes all the sounds you would expect in a puppy – whimpering, nuzzling, barking, panting, sniffing, snoring and more – over 35 in total.
What really sets Snuggles apart from other pet toys though is his realism and interactive features. From the way he breathes and moves his head to the way he opens and closes his eyes – he literally moves, feels and responds to touch just like a real puppy.
There are 6 play modes with this little pup:
1.Just like any real puppy if you press his nose or put something up to it like a toy or a ball, he will sniff and react in anticipation of play.
2.Pet his head and you’ll see him open and close his eyes and make happy sounds. The more you pet him, the happier he becomes.
3.He gets hungry while he plays. To feed him you place the milk bottle into his mouth and you’ll hear him drinking and making sucking sounds. When the bottle is removed, he’ll sound satisfied.
4.Playing with this pup can tire him out so sometimes he needs a little nap. To put him to sleep, lay him down on his back or side. He will close his eyes, start to snore and you will notice him breathing. Like really breathing – his tummy rises and falls, perfectly matched to the breathing in his slumber.
5.Snuggles loves to have his tummy tickled while he is lying on his back and will respond with happy sounds.
6.Like all puppies, Snuggles likes attention and if left in the sitting position or lying on his tummy with no interaction for too long, he will cry out for attention. If your child responds they will be rewarded with a secret phrase. Spoiler alert: it’s the puppy version of “I love you”. Be still my beating heart. If your child doesn’t respond, Snuggles will eventually get tired and fall asleep.
Snuggles also comes with an Adopt-A-Friend official Adoption Certificate which made the whole experience even more special for Riley and Harry because they were able to give him his very own name, albeit they stuck with Snuggles, but if your child wanted to choose their own name then they could. The certificate states that whoever is lucky enough to get this puppy promises to love and take care of him, feed him, play with him every day and give him a loving home. It’s a really sweet touch.
Snuggles requires 4 x AAA batteries for all the features to operate correctly. Batteries are included for demonstration purposes but they are not fully charged so it’s recommended that they are replaced before use. Rechargeable batteries are not recommended by the manufacturer. The battery compartments are located in Snuggles’s rear feet with two batteries installed in each paw.
He also has a switch on his right paw which allows you to turn him on or off or place him in demo mode. This is a really handy feature as the boys insist on taking him to bed with them, so I can switch him off when they have finished playing and there’s no puppy interruptions when he’s cuddled during the night!
All I can say is that this loveable ball of fur is sure to swell the heart of adults and children alike, because as soon as you look into those big blue eyes, he’s got your heart. He possesses all the qualities of a real puppy and that, combined with his realistic interactive features, makes this plush puppy worthy of that special little someone in your household.
Riley and Harry are 100% besotted with him. They tend to his needs so thoughtfully and lovingly that it actually makes me feel really proud of the boys they are growing into. I know that sounds silly as Snuggles is just a toy, but to them, he is a puppy and so they look after and treat him as if he were one.
As pet toys go, this is the most innovative and realistic one I have come across. He moves, feels and responds to touch just like a real puppy.
