Review // TOMY Greedy Granny Game

The TOMY Greedy Granny Game is one of those games that brings the entire family together and has them all in fits of giggles. We were recently sent a sample of the game for review and I have to say, it’s simply brilliant.

TOMY Greedy Granny

What’s in the box?

  • 1 x granny in an armchair (2 pieces)
  • 12 x biscuits
  • 1 x biscuit spinner wheel

TOMY Greedy Granny

The TOMY Greed Granny Game takes no more than a minute to setup. Place the top half of Granny’s body into the bottom half of her body and chair. Insert Granny’s teeth, pull back her chair, load all the biscuits in the tray…and you’re ready to play!

TOMY Greedy Granny

Like most grandparents, this Granny is partial to a biscuit…or two. So much so that she has fallen asleep with the entire tray on her lap and the object of the game is to take her biscuits before she wakes up.

How to play (suitable for 2-4 players)

The first player takes their turn spinning the biscuit wheel. If the spinner lands on green, then they take their turn in sneaking a biscuit away. They must pay attention to the number on the spinner lands on as it tells them how many times they must press the purple button to the side of Granny’s chair. This button acts as a trigger, so to speak, and players have no idea just when Granny will wake up.

If the spinner lands on purple then they must put a biscuit back and press the button the designated times. If the spinner lands on the “crossed out” symbol then the player misses a go. If it lands on the symbol of two people next to each other then they can take a biscuit from any other player.

The aim of the game is to collect one of each biscuit. If Granny wakes, then the player that woke her must put all of their biscuits back on to her tray. Unlucky! Once Granny is reset and back in the land of nod, the game continues. The first player to collect one of each type of biscuit and keep Granny snoozing, wins!

Overall thoughts?

Greedy Granny has all the ingredients of a fun family game: surprise, skill and humour and we have had immense fun playing it. It’s a suspenseful game that keeps you on the edge of your seat because you don’t know quite when Granny might wake up. And when she does…watch out…because her false teeth come flying out. Riley and Harry find this part absolutely hilarious, as do I, because it is simply impossible to keep a straight face when they are rolling around on the floor laughing.

Greedy Granny really is a brilliant little game and we’ve had endless hours of fun playing it. It says it’s suitable for children aged 5-10 years but Harry is 3 and Riley is 4 and they’ve both grasped the rules of the game easily so I would say anyone aged 3years+ would be able to join in and play along with the rest of the family.

The biscuits also come in pretty handy for teaching colours, counting and sharing, so there’s an educational element to the game as well.

The TOMY Greedy Granny game has an RRP of £19.99 and is available to purchase from Argos, Amazon, Smyths Toys and other major retailers.

Reminds me of Buckaroo! We love a family game so I suspect this will be making it onto our Christmas lists this year.
