Once again I am late with my “Siblings Project” post, but November has been crazy busy and between Riley’s birthday/party prep, Christmas planning and freelance work I’ve had little time for anything else this month. Nevertheless, amidst the chaos, the relationship between Riley and Harry has continued to blossom.
These photos were taken casually and candidly on my phone one evening during bathtime, purely for my own benefit because i wanted to document the moment. I had absolutely no intention of using them for anything, but then I looked through them and realised that actually, they captured the essence of “siblings” brilliantly so would be perfect for this month’s post.
I mean sharing bathtime is just one of those childhood experiences isn’t it? Who doesn’t have photos of themselves with brothers or sisters sharing a bath?
They have so much fun together during bathtime and I find it quite calming to sit and watch them. I don’t know why…it just gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside to see the joy on their faces as they play together.
These were the kinds of “magic moments” between Riley and a younger sibling, that I had pictured when I was pregnant the second time around. I knew from very early on that Harry was a boy and I hoped that as “brothers” they would have the same close bond that I did – and still do – with my sister.
I think as a parent, the only thing you want for your children is for them to be happy in life and feel loved. Judging by the faces on these two, I’d like to think that I’m doing a pretty good job of that so far.
