REVIEW // Dinky Duvalay

We were recently asked if we would like to work with Duvalay to review their award-winning Dinky Duvalay – a luxury sleep system made especially for children.

The Dinky Duvalay is essentially a portable memory foam sleeping bag, comprising of a mattress, duvet and pillow that can be used by children at home, for sleepovers or when travelling. It’s been specifically designed for children aged 2-8 years and has won numerous awards.

When the Dinky Duvalay arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by its size. It was much bigger than I had anticipated, which is great because it means it can fit a range of different cots, toddler beds and single beds and will grow with your child. It will also keep your child warm and snug, while still offering plenty of space for them to move around comfortably inside.

A big positive for me is that there’s no setup required. You simply undo the buckled straps, unroll and the sleeping bag is ready for use. Where you choose to use it is entirely up to you, we’ve been using ours on the top of Harry’s bed or on the floor in my room, but it’s equally well suited for sleepovers, camping and caravanning.

Although we are way passed the toddler stage, I would imagine that the Dinky Duvalay works especially well when making the leap from cot to bed, as it would transport over with minimal fuss; helping to create an environment your little one knows so they instantly feel settled.

Another of my favourite aspects of the Dinky Duvalay is its bright, unisex design. It’s gorgeous and uses a fun, funky animal print which is always popular with children. Harry particularly likes to name all of the animals he can see and tell me what noises they make. The colours are vivid and bright, without being too overpowering, so I think it’s a design that would blend in nicely in most children’s bedrooms.

I was really impressed with the quality of everything as well. The Dinky Duvalay features the highest-quality memory foam bottom for added comfort, along with a luxury duvet and pillow (with cover).  Consisting of one polycotton cover with two pockets, this clever product includes a hollow fibre duvet in the top pocket and a memory foam mattress in the bottom pocket – complete with a handy, easily removable water resistant cover, which is great for any little accidents.

One slight niggle for me is that the duvet seems to slide around a lot within the cover, which is not ideal when you have a wriggly 3yr old pre-schooler who moves around a lot in his sleep. I have to shake the duvet out every night before he goes to bed and make sure everything is back where it’s supposed to be. I also think that smaller children might struggle with the size of the pillow as well. It’s pretty small in size when compared to a standard pillow – which is what my boys are used to – so I think younger children would be unable to keep their head supported correctly and in place on the pillow.

Overall thoughts?

Overall i am really happy with the Dinky Duvalay and would happily recommend it to other parents for their children. There is nothing else like this product on the market and the innovative concept behind it is quite frankly, genius!

Dinky Duvalay

This transportable, luxury sleeping bag has been manufactured to the highest standard and is as good to use at home as it is away, ensuring children get a comfortable, secure and cosy night’s sleep wherever they are. It is a tad on the pricey side at £89.95 but well worth it in my opinion for the quality of goods you are receiving.
